Environmental Club in San Jose

Discussion and action on sustainability with the I THINK program at SJSU

About February 22, 2007

Our goal is to try to make the SJSU campus a greener place.  We do this by encouraging a culture of environmentalism on campus, doing projects that directly make the campus more environmentally friendly, and providing students that care about the environment with opportunities to come together and meet each other.

Every semester we work on one or two large projects.  In addition, we try to have lots of fun weekend get togethers, such as hikes, river cleanups, and other volunteer stuff.  Not to mention the occasional party.

    Hello,

We produce the Downtown San Jose Farmers’ Market and my colleague Jenna informed me that your group was interested in being at the market on May 25th. I tried to send an email back wihth the application to info@sjsuenvclub.org but it keeps bouncing back. Please give me a call at 408-279-1775 x12 with a contact number and possibly another email address.

    Thank you,

    Joan Malana

Hi, I saw a flyer in the DMH and wanted to know if the club was going on this semester? I saw that the meeting was today at 4:30 but I have a class and it ends at 5:45. Do you guys have meeting any other day of the week too?

    Thanks.

Just recently I saw someone wearing a “SJSU recycles” shirt and it made me wonder if we had and environmental club… which led me to finding the website. I am really interested in being involved with the club but I have a class during the time posted above (5:30 on Wednesdays), are there other times that the club meets?

    Thank you!!

    Hello,

The U.S. Green Building Council – Northern California Chapter (USGBC-NCC) is a regional non-profit organization whose mission is to advocate for and provide education about green building and sustainable communities. In service of that mission, we are interested in partnering with you and your students on a special professional development and membership opportunity.

Our ability to educate, provide resources, and advocate for green building is executed through our members, who are primarily students and professionals. Professional members include highly specialized, influential individuals, representing the architecture, design, construction, engineering, energy, law, and real estate industries, and Northern California’s leading companies.

For this reason, student membership offers excellent opportunities for professional networking, real world skill development, and application of educational principles. Plus, members receive special deals and discounts through our Affinity Program.

At this time, USGBC-NCC would like to offer your students an exclusive 25% discount on Student Chapter Membership. This allows your students to join our organization for only $30/year (regularly priced at $40/year), if they join by May 31, 2012.

Again, our program provides educational resources that compliment your institution’s curriculum and will benefit your students’ careers.

If you have any questions about our organization or membership benefits, please do not hesitate to contact me. Once you confirm your institution’s participation, I will send you information and a customized web link to provide your students. I look forward to hearing back from you.

    Sincerely,

    Sonya Ringer
